Voyages Jules Verne Launches Six New Tours

Specialist tour operator, Voyages Jules Verne has added six new tours to its World of Wonders programme. The new escorted itineraries are to Borneo, Italy, North Cyprus, Norway, Romania and Russia.

As an example, the Wild Borneo tour offers the opportunity to explore a little-known destination. The nine-night journey through Sarawak and Sabah, the two states of Malaysian Borneo, includes highlights such as a visit to the Semengoh Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre; a scenic plank walk through the rainforest to the world’s largest cave passage, Lang’s Cave; a longboat ride to the caverns and limestone formations of Wind Cave; a full-day excursion to UNESCO World Heritage site, Kinabalu National Park; and a steam train journey on the North Borneo Railway, passing through local villages, coastal towns, rice paddies and coffee plantations.

Prices start from £1845 per person (based on two sharing) including flights from Heathrow, transfers, eight nights’ B&B in four and five-star hotels (one night flying), one lunch, sightseeing and the services of guides and local representatives. Departures are on September 11 and 25, October 16 and November 13 2013 and on February 19, March 26 and April 23 2014.

The new Italy by Royal Clipper is a six or nine-night sailing adventure onboard a five-mast ship built in 2000 in the style of the old clipper vessels of the 19th century. Shore stops are made at Portoferraio in Elba, Porto Vecchio in Corsica and Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda, where travellers can opt to join organised tours of each island (not included in the price) or to explore at their own pace. On the nine-night trip, ports of call also include the Palmarola, Pontine Islands, Sorrento, Sicily and Lipari. Both itineraries also include a two-night stay in Rome prior to boarding the Royal Clipper.

The tour costs £1495 per person for a six-night trip, and £1995 for a nine-night trip, based on two people sharing. The price includes flights from Gatwick or Heathrow, transfers, full-board accommodation whilst on the cruise vessel, two nights’ four-star B&B in Rome (on both itineraries), sightseeing and the services of a cruise director. Tours depart in October 2013.
