TravelLocal Launches Japan as Newest Destination

TravelLocal was founded to create tailor-made holidays with local experts and now features more than 40 destinations worldwide. The latest addition to its portfolio is Japan and now independent travellers will have access to on-the-ground expertise which ensures a fairer deal for local suppliers and opens up little-known places to clients, via local knowledge.

TravelLocal has introduced seven sample itineraries to Japan, each of which can be tailored in any way to suit individual interests and budgets and can be as active or relaxed as desired. Durations are between eight and 14 days and travellers can choose a tour which emphasises Japanese culture, history, food and drink, wildlife or scenery. Some itineraries include Japan's well known sights and vibrant cities but travellers can also use TravelLocal’s local knowledge to discover Japan’s hidden gems, taking in the perfectly preserved Edo-period post towns of the Kiso Valley, beautiful sub-tropical island hideaways off the Japanese coast, ancient capitals and pilgrimage routes of bygone eras, and stay at quaint, traditional ryokans far from the tourist trail.

As an example, an eight-day Classic Japan trip, with time in Tokyo, Kamakura, Kyoto, Hiroshima and Nara, costs from £1,620 per person based on two sharing. The price includes bed and breakfast accommodation and a Japan Rail Pass (includes bullet trains). External flights are not included.
