Saga Introduces River Cruises for Singles

Saga’s first river cruise for solo travellers, a seven-night 'Autumn Colours of the Rhine' on board the MS Arlene, sails from Bonn in Germany on October 14 2016.

The exclusive, no-fly cruise costs from £999 per person which includes coach travel from Folkestone via Eurotunnel and return coach from Arnhem in the Netherlands. Flights can be arranged at a supplement. All meals, plus wine, beer and soft drinks are included.

MS Arlene moors overnight in Bonn and guests join a welcome cocktail party to mingle with other passengers, the company’s cruise director and Solos host. Next morning, an optional walking tour includes a visit to Beethoven’s former home, now a museum dedicated to his life and work. Further highlights include the Electoral Palace with its elegant Hofgarten and baroque City Hall.

The cruise continues to Koblenz, where the rivers Rhine and Moselle meet, and there is an optional tour to the Ehrenbreitstein Fortress. The itinerary then continues on to Cologne, with its magnificent cathedral, many art 100 galleries and museums to explore. After an afternoon’s cruising, MS Arlene moors at Nijmegen, the Netherlands’ oldest city, to view attractions including 13th-century St Stevens Church. Arnhem is the final port with time to join an optional commemoration tour to the site of the World War II Battle of Arnhem.
