Classic Cottages New Finds for 2015

Independent cottage holiday company, Classic Cottages, has launched its new Directory 2015 brochure of 549 coastal and country self-catering properties across Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, and Somerset.

From beautifully-converted barns, magnificent manor houses, stylish apartments and thatched cottages to meadow huts or safari-style tents, Classic Cottages’ portfolio has somewhere to suit. Long stay or short break, rural or coastal, romantic or active, there are desirable homes-from-home sleeping from two to 20 people.

New properties for 2015 include the UK’s only truly zero-carbon holiday destination in Cornwall. The Emerald (five houses, sleeping between two and six) is an award-winning boutique collection of hi-spec, super-insulated cedar-clad houses set in a tranquil location near Falmouth. It has achieved the highest possible grading (Code 6 status) for eco-efficiency. Spread throughout five acres, there is an indoor heated swimming pool and gym, an outdoor tennis court and children’s play area, an orchard with chickens and ducks, and a solar farm which generates all the energy The Emerald needs. A week’s stay in one of the houses costs from £918.

A new property in Devon is at Lower Chaddlehanger (sleeps nine) in Tavistock. The group of three cottages is located in rolling Devon farmland in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a mile from Dartmoor. They can be rented as single cottages or as a whole, perfect for a family gathering. Home-cooked meals can be ordered in advance and activities such as cycling or riding can be arranged. A week’s stay costs from £870.

Another new option in Cornwall is a luxurious bolthole for two, the Tractor Shed near to Polzeath. Guests can use the communal outdoor swimming pool (available from May to October), plus hot tub, gym, private outside seating and barbecue area. It’s perfect for couples of all ages or for solo travellers, providing an ideal holiday base for exploring the shores of Polzeath, Rock and Padstow. A week’s stay costs from £599.
