Bon Voyage Arctic Live Experience

BBC2 is currently showing 'Arctic Live' – a three-part series exploring the icy wilderness of the Arctic and the life of the polar bear which stars Kate Humble, Gordon Buchanan and Simon Reeve.

The trio are following the remarkable journey of hundreds of polar bears as they wait to set off on their winter hunt after months without food. At the end of October and the beginning of November each year, the bears gather on the shores of Hudson Bay waiting for the ice to form so they can make their way to their frozen hunting grounds. While they wait, they roam the outskirts, and often the streets, of the tiny town of Churchill, often referred as the polar bear capital of the world.

For those wishing to observe these endangered bears and the unique Arctic landscape for themselves, Bon Voyage is inviting them to join its ‘Churchill, the Polar Bear Capital of the World’ itinerary. The five-night escorted trip, available on a choice of dates in October and November 2017, begins and ends in Winnipeg and includes three nights in Churchill, reached via a private charter flight.

Highlights include two full-day excursions in polar bear country, with a naturalist guide, aboard a specially designed tundra vehicle, a dog sledding demonstration, a dog sled ride in the forest and a visit to the Eskimo Museum in Churchill.

Twin-share prices for the holiday start at £4995 per person inclusive of return Heathrow flights, transfers on arrival, five nights’ accommodation (two nights at the Inn at the Forks in Winnipeg and three nights at the Lazy Bear Lodge in Churchill) and most meals. Also included are the above excursions and the services of a tour leader throughout.
