Art of the Olympians Museum London Exhibition

Art of the Olympians Museum and Gallery (AOTO) will embark on a journey to London for the 2012 Games to inspire individuals through a unique pop-up exhibition at UCL’s Main Wilkins Building on Gower Street, London.

The exhibition which brings together Olympic memorabilia, artwork by Olympians, interactive opportunities and engaging exhibits showcasing an athlete’s personal journey will be on display from July 25 – August 13 and is open to public who can visit the exhibition free of charge.

Armed with a passion for art, sport and culture, the non-profit organisation headquartered in Fort Myers, Florida, continues to grow its global reach by promoting a spirit of corporation and inspiring individuals to achieve personal excellence.

What started with one man’s vision, the late Al Oerter, four-time consecutive Olympic gold medalist in discus, has grown into a worldwide initiative driven by a family of more than 70 international Olympian Artists.

These Olympians are working to bring two passions – art and sport – together in education for the goal of encouraging individuals to discover their best.

Today the artistic and educational initiatives of the museum are directed by Olympic Legend Bob Beamon, best known for his world record in the long jump at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico, which has remained unchallenged for 43 years.

At the 2012 Games, AOTO will be joined by Global Sports Development in an effort to create excitement and passion for art, sport and the Olympic ideals.

Visitors will have an opportunity to touch, feel, learn and embrace the culture and values of the Olympic Games through AOTO’s exhibition and outdoor artwalk from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m. from July 25th– August 13th 2012.
