Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 June 2012 are two dates to put in the diary. Why? Because Britain is getting yet another bonus holiday thanks to the Queen. Over the weekend from 2-5 June, the Queen is marking her Diamond Jubilee; it's 60 years since Her Royal Highness was crowned Queen.

This year was an amazing year for the British tourist industry both with domestic and international tourists. The Royal Wedding was enjoyed by millions of people all over the world, but its affects on the British economy will last well into the future. According to Visit Britain, the UK's tourist authority, the event will attract over four million tourists and £2 billion in revenue over the next few years.

Brits loved it. The late timing of Easter coincided perfectly with the Prince William and Kate Middleton's big day. Brits enjoyed one four day week followed by a three day week, followed by a four day week, meaning they could get 11 days off work in one stretch for just three days of annual leave.

Next year looks like it too, will be a year to celebrate. There might not be any Royal weddings, but we do have the Olympics to look forward to on top of the aforementioned Golden Jubilee.

London is going to enjoy the biggest benefits. Hotels in the region are already taking bookings and if London wasn't already on people's must-visit list, it is now. If you want to enjoy the events in the capital next year, you'll need to begin planning now. There are hundreds of hotels and hostels in the Greater London region, but to make the most of the buzzing atmosphere you'll want one with a good, central location.

Millennium Hotels has five hotels in Greater London, and in fact, they are all located in a small, prestigious region of West London, not far from Buckingham Palace itself. This area of London is not just exclusive, with some of London's most expensive real estate, it's also on the doorstep of Hyde Park, some of the country's best museums including the Natural History Museum and the V&A Museum and not far from Portobello Road market and luxury department stores Harvey Nicholls and Harrods. Kensington and Chelsea is one of the most sought-after destinations in London and a great place to spend the extra-long holiday in honour of the Queen.
